Project Start up

The many schools of thought on project management each take a different approach to the discipline,
yet they all converge on two axioms:

Actions defined at the start of a project ultimately cost less and prove more effective.

A well-organized project, equipped with all the necessary and reliable tools, is easier to manage and complete
while meeting the expected results and the company's targets.

Drawing on the team's knowledge and experience, PDA has defined a winning approach to project start-up, focused on the factors that matter most: building a proper breakdown of the scope of work (WBS) and costs, and setting the right indicators to monitor across the entire project lifecycle — so the effectiveness of each strategy and action, and the resulting performance, can be reliably assessed.

Documents Package

There are many documents that need to be prepared and released in order to properly manage all the activities of a project. These documents are necessary to combine the contractual requirements (typically different for each contract) with the company processes and operational tools, which are clearly defined and thoroughly checked by the company's quality system - and therefore always the same.

Using the project’s documents, the project management team can:

  • Keep the client informed of the processes to be implemented for the project; if the client disagrees, they can comment on them (where the contract allows) before the related activities are carried out — avoiding late disputes, rejections and rework.

  • Provide all parties involved in the development of the project with a clear description of the operational plans, the tools to be adopted, the formats to use as well as the roles and responsibilities during the project lifecycle at any given time.

  • Provide a structured reference point for quality control: HOW CAN A NON-REGULATED PROCESS BE REPEATED AND CONTROLLED?

PDA can prepare the necessary documents which can be selected within a package based on the evaluation of contractual requirements.

Project Control

PLANNING + COST CONTROL

PDA takes a systematic approach to project control. It starts from defining the BASELINE in line with the project schedule (budget and progress planning) — what should guarantee the expected results, essentially the target — which is then compared with the CURRENT STATUS, representing reality.
By comparing the BASELINE with the recorded CURRENT STATUS, PDA evaluates performance to measure how effective both the management and the actions taken have been, and from this estimates the resources needed to complete the job. In practice, PDA regularly provides a projection of the final result based on actual recorded performance.

PROJECT ASSESSMENT

Assessment of the current status of the project, estimation of the physical progress, forecast for the completion of the project and risk analysis.

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

PDA can assist you with the following:

  • contract review, both at project start up and during its entire duration

  • drafting of subcontract agreements and purchase orders

  • risk and opportunity evaluation

  • claims preparation and negotiation (claims management)

Training

PDA shares the principles of PROACTIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT through workshops and training sessions held at your premises, complete with educational material and final assessment questionnaires.
